Welcome to Treadle Lightly, I am Suzanne. I have been weaving for more than two decades. I’m passionate about creating beautifully handwoven slow textiles for you and your home, including unique textile art, apparel and soft furnishings.
Taking inspiration from the natural world, and aiming to leave only the feintest footprint, which has a minimal impact on the environment. It merges heritage craft skills with contemporary sustainable, organic fibres including wool, silk and linen, which are inspired by countryside and rural landscapes.
In more recent years I have been working from a small studio in a converted garage space in rural Northamptonshire. The countryside around my home is the backdrop to my practice, the colours and textures providing inspiration.
The name Treadle Lightly is guided by the philosophy of creating work using an ancient craft, which has a minimal impact on our planet. Find out more.
